Online Presentation Recording Basics

tl;dr

When a visual image lacks detail, your brain and eyes work together to fill in the blanks. However, the same is not true with low quality audio, where there is far less information available with which to compensate for the missing detail.

Checklist

• Don’t distance yourself more than 2-3 feet steps from your microphone.
• Ensure that you are taking enough breaths to speak in a strong voice (best for your webcam microphone).
• Listen to your recording environment. Limit/eliminate background noises.
• Consider using bluetooth headphones if your Panopto trial run alerts you to poor laptop audio. Only use a good quality pair of headphones that you have tested.
