FlexLab Help

Welcome to the FlexLabs! These rooms are equipped with a lot of technology to make the teaching as easy as possible. There’s just a few things to know before you get started.

Unlocking the Room

  1. In order to “turn on” the room, you’ll need to use the Crestron screen that is on top of the podium. It should have a ProCom logo on it while the room is in standby.
  2. Tap “Creative” on the Crestron unit to unlock the screen.
  3. Tap “Creative” again to unlock the room fully.
  4. The screen should begin to roll down, and the projector should turn on shortly.

By default, the room will be using the built in Mac Mini inside the podium desk. The rooms are equipped with a USB-C cable to connect an external device to the rooms. If your laptop does not support displays over USB-C, get in touch with our team, and they will prepare the room with an HDMI connection.

FlexLab Audio

The audio volume in the FlexLabs is also controlled from the Crestron screen. The rooms have been prepared so that the volume can’t get so loud that it will be a problem. When turning up the volume, it is recommended to hold the volume up on the screen for a while, otherwise it may take a while to raise the volume to the level you want.

FlexLab Hybrid Learning + Guests

One of the main features of these rooms is the ability for remote and hybrid learning, especially through the ability to have guests join virtually. The rooms are equipped with wireless lav mics that are located in the drawer in the podium. If you would like to do a Q+A session with your students, there is also the CatchBox microphone that can be safely passed around the room.

The rooms are also equipped with a camera mounted to the ceiling that is capable of following the speaker as they move around the room. The controls for this are either on the Mac Mini (RCC 205) or on the Crestron Screen (RCC 203 + KHE323A).

Closing up the Room

When you’re finished in the room, make sure you have logged off the podium Mac, and hit the “exit” button on the Crestron display. It will then unlock the drawer, and ask that you make sure the clicker and mics are plugged in to charge. Once you confirm this, the projector will turn off, and the screen will roll back up.

We ask that if you make any changes to the layout of the room, that you return them to the state you found it in before you leave. It helps us keep everything running smoothly, and keeps the rooms as adaptable as possible!
