WordPress Starter Guide: Registration and blog

All students enrolled in CMN288 will automatically have access to WordPress.

Step 1

But before you can access WordPress, you need to check your email inbox for an invitation to procomblogs.ca. Be sure to click the provided link in the welcome email and change your password after you login. It is highly suggested that you make your password the same as your current my.ryerson.ca password. If you ever encounter an error logging in, clear your cache or try a new web browser.

Step 2

If you are are ready to create a new blog for your project, do so using the top menu. The system will then walk you through the creation steps.

Complete the following steps only if your instructor has asked you to create an individual blog. If you are using a class blog, you have been enrolled in it automatically and it will appear under your ‘My Sites’ button.



When you create your blog, you must specify what level of privacy you want. WordPress’ default privacy setting allows all internet users to access your blog, and for Google to show your content in search results. If you want additional privacy controls, select from the following (note: click “No” to have a blog you can share with others via its URL, but know that your blog won’t appear in Google searches).

Step 3:

If you’re working with others in a group, add them to the blog. To access your newly created blog, look for it under “My Sites” and click the Dashboard option. Add users by click your way to the following

Make sure you set their roles to editors. The will now be able to find the group blog under their “My Sites” menu.
